A Concentrated Defoamer for use in Waste Water Treatment

Silicone Defoamer (RD-71) is a powerful and cost-effective system that will defoam any water or water/solvent foaming system. It is especially well suited for defoaming pH adjustment sumps and clarifiers from metal plating operations because it is unaffected by pH or any other effluent contaminants. Silicone Defoamer (RD-71) works well at any temperature (unlike many organic defoamers) and will not decompose or hydrolyze at extremes of pH.

It will not interfere with any settling or clarification processes and is non-polluting, non-regulated and acceptable for disposal in any waste stream.

Under no circumstances should Silicone Defoamer (RD-71) be used in processing equipment; it will coat work being processed.

MAKE-UP:
Mix well before use. Ideally, it is best diluted to 10% or less before use, although it may be used as received. In continuous overflow systems, like pH sumps, 10 ppm is usually sufficient, but unusually heavy foam-producing chemical loads, like certain types of fusing oils, may require as much as 100 ppm.

Ideally, Silicone Defoamer (RD-71) will be metered using a holding tank and a metering pump into a pH adjustment sump. For emergency use, a hand trigger sprayer is effective in eliminating large foam masses.

EQUIPMENT:
Silicone Defoamer (RD-71) is compatible and non-corrosive to any commonly used process equipment.

SAFETY:

Silicone Defoamer (RD-71) is non-hazardous. Dispose of in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations. Contact your RD Chemical representative for further information.

PACKAGING:

Silicone Defoamer (RD-71) is available in 5 gallon pails, and 15 or 55 gallon drums.
