A Cleaner/De-oxidizer for Electrical Contacts

De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) is a de-oxidizer that will remove Tin, Lead oxides as well as other oxides from contact surfaces, reducing resistance levels to less than even new (uncleaned) contacts, and restoring semiconductor test sockets to better than new performance.

De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) deoxidizes without “activating” the metal surface. Thus re-growth of oxides remains the same as new contacts. De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) removes only oxides, and will not attack most metals, except Zinc and Aluminum. De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) does not attack the plastics in test sockets. Only a final rinse with water, preferably deionized, is required after the de-oxidizer step. De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) should be used at 120° F with an immersion time of 6 minutes for optimum performance. MAKE-UP:
Product should be used as received – Do not dilute.

OPERATION:
May be sprayed or used in immersion tank. Recommend minimum sixminute solution contact @ 120° F (50° C). Use product until depleted, then replace.

EQUIPMENT:
Use only in plastic equipment, any other metals, or glass, will be attacked, if only slowly.

SAFETY:

De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) contains a mild acid and should be handled only with appropriate safety equipment. Safety goggles are mandatory, waterproof (vinyl, rubber etc.) gloves are strongly recommended. Consult Material Safety Data Sheet for further information.

DISPOSAL:
Used solutions may contain dissolved metal oxides, which may require treatment before spent solutions are disposed. Dispose of in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations. Contact your RD Chemical representative for further information.

PACKAGING:

4 liter bottle, 4 x 4 Liter case, 20 Liter drum, and 200 liter drums.

Using it Successfully

De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) removes both Tin and Lead oxide, without removing any metal. It does this through two different, but not wholly independent mechanisms, and the capacity for dissolving each metal, is to some extent dependent on the amount of the other metal in solution.

Specifically, De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) will dissolve Tin oxides well past the point where it stops dissolving Lead oxides. Further, dissolution of Tin oxide lowers the capacity to dissolve Lead oxide, but not the other way around. This may not be an issue if the deposits are all, or largely Tin oxide, however, if the oxides are both Tin and Lead oxides, as De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699) is consumed past the point it should be dumped, it will continue dissolving Tin oxide, thus apparently still working, while actually leaving Lead oxide on the surface.

Recommended use of De-Ox™ II (RDZ-1699):
RD Chemical Company makes these recommendations in good faith, based on laboratory and field-testing. Ultimate responsibility for propriety of use, however, must rest with the purchaser and user. RD Chemical Company recommends thorough testing of its products, before use.
