Alkaline Descale™ RDZ-1734
Alkaline Descale™
Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) is a strongly oxidizing surface conditioner designed to descale Cobalt/ Chrome and other Chromium based alloys before chemical polishing, or electropolishing. Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) will convert insoluble oxides to soluble forms, and thus allow uniform electropolishing (using ElectroPolish Ti2™ RDZ-1676) or chemical polishing (CoCr Cleaner™ RDZ-1881).Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) derives its oxidizing power from Sodium Permanganate, which gives its solutions a deep wine-red color. When Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) is spent, its solutions turn a deep green, or brown. When a part is removed from the Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) solutions, especially after extended treatment, it may be covered with a smut of brown Manganese Dioxide, which can be removed in Descale Remover™ (RDZ-1735).
The use temperature of Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) solutions may cause gaps in welds or cracks to open up and allow solution penetration. These gaps or cracks can then shrink again when the part is immersed in cold rinse water. This may cause some solution to be entrapped, and may cause bleeding out of solution at some future time. If this becomes a problem, a hot rinse following Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) will insure complete rinsing.
MAKE UP:
Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) is supplied as a two part makeup, Part A and Part B. Use equal volumes of Part A and Part B to make up initially. Make up evaporation losses with deionized water.
OPERATION:
Use at 180° F (80° C) to 200° F (93° C), 3-4 hours minimum. Very heavy oxide may require extended (24-48 hour) treatment times. Follow with water rinse.
EQUIPMENT:
Reinforced Polypropylene (180° F Max.), or Stainless Steel, tanks. Quartz, Stainless Steel, or Titanium heaters.
SAFETY:
Use with extreme caution, highly alkaline oxidizer. Personnel should have full face shield, and rubber or neoprene gloves, aprons, and other garments to assure no solution contact with skin or clothing. Consult MSDS for more information.
DISPOSAL:Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) may contain Hexavalent Chromium after use, which must be removed before disposal. Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734) may be disposed of into most sanitary sewage systems after heavy metals picked up during use are removed and pH adjusted. Check with your local sanitary district regulators for guidance. Dispose of in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations. Contact your RD Chemical representative for further information.
PACKAGING:
Alkaline Descale™ (RDZ-1734A & RDZ-1734B) is supplied in 4 liter, 20 liter and 60 liter plastic containers.
