MP Electrostripping System RDZ-1980/1982

For stripping Gold and Silver

MP Electrostripping System (RDZ-1980/1982) is a non-cyanide stripper for electropolishing or de-plating Gold and Silver.

MAKE-UP:
Make up by mixing 9 parts MP Base (RDZ-1980) and one part MP Activator (RDZ-1982).

OPERATION:
If solution is used to strip Silver, do not use it to strip other metals. Current density must be determined experimentally. Excess current density will cause blackening of part being stripped. Solution agitation is recommended, and will allow higher current density. May be used at room temperature to 95° F. Higher temperature allows greater current density. If solution is heated, agitation is important to minimize local overheating. Make up any loss of volume due to evaporation with deionized water. Ideally, a stagnant drag out rinse should be used, and any evaporation loss in stripper should be replaced from drag out rinse. Stripped metals will be deposited as a black sponge on cathode.

EQUIPMENT:
Ideal connection to part is with Titanium clamps, although any metal will work. Cathode is ideally Titanium, and placement is important, closer to the work, the better.

DISPOSAL:
Raise pH with Caustic Soda solution (not beads) to 12.5+ to precipitate dissolved metals. Filter, then bring pH back to neutral with dilute acid. Dispose of in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations. Contact your RD Chemical representative for further information.

SAFETY:
MP Activator (RDZ-1982) is a strong acid, and should be handled with extreme caution. Consult Material Safety Data Sheet for further information.

MP Base 2 (RDZ-1980) is available in 4 liter bottles, and 20 liter pails. MP Activator (RDZ-1982) is available in 4 liter bottles.
